Our Mobile Coffee Van “Herzwerk Café”

Since 2021, Monika Escher has been traveling around the region with her mobile coffee van, “Herzwerk Café.” With her delicious coffee specialties, she brought moments of enjoyment and a barista feel to celebrations and markets. We quickly realized that we shared not only a passion for good coffee, but also a desire to effectively help migrants integrate into German society. During her mobile outreach, she accompanied women with a migration background who, due to their family circumstances, had limited opportunities to experience German (celebratory) culture and improve their German.
This led to the idea of integrating Monika into the Saatkorn family as our mobile outreach van. She sold our Kornhaus products from her café-Ape, and the Saatkorn Projekt e.V. association supported her integration efforts. This was particularly interesting and valuable for us because the focus of our association’s work is on young male asylum seekers. Due to cultural circumstances, we are unable to support refugee women within the scope of our association’s work.
In the fall of 2025, Monika Escher handed over “Café Herzwerk” to new owners who continue to operate the mobile coffee shop with a modified concept. This new concept, however, no longer includes integration work, which unfortunately brought our wonderful collaboration to an end.
We would therefore like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Monika Escher for her dedication and commitment. Her creative ideas and her unwavering willingness to so effectively care for these—often overlooked—women with a migration background have always encouraged and inspired us in our work. We are certain that her investment in the lives of these women will bear fruit.
